Did you know that the name Michael Smith is the most common in the English language? Daniel Casey, writer, producer and director has chosen the name to base his latest release, The Death of Michael Smith. Set to premier in January 2007, one of the stars of the film is Mike Mili, an actor/screenwriter based in the Detroit area. Mili, advises that the film took approximately six month to make and is presently on the Film Festival circuit, with hopes of being one of the selections in Greece's Thessaloniki Film Festival, as well as, Sundance and Tribeca in New York. Mike is excited about his role in the film.

"I portray one of three Michael Smith's in the film, "A Remorseful Hit Man." The film was shot primarily in the Detroit area, by a Detroit native, director, Daniel Casey. Dan is currently at the American Film Institute and resides in Los Angeles."

Mili has been involved with the theatre for most of his adult life. He has performed in many films, is a writer for Happy Trails Animation, and has performed on television and in live comedy theatre. His first acting experience was with Pat Morita in "Collision Course" where he played a Greek waiter. His training includes: Detroit Ensemble Theatre, One on one comedic training with Rich Goteri, Director of Detroit's Second City for 10 years, as well as, Kirk Noland's Comedy Camp.

He currently has several upcoming projects.

"I have quite a few things in the fire. I'm wrapping up a role in two films: Dirty Trousers, a film set in 1935 where I portray a mobster loan shark named Lou. We are filming my final scene at the Fisher Theatre; and Guns Drugs and Dirty Money where I portray…Yes you guessed it a "Hit Man!"

Mili grew up in the St. Constantine and Helen area and is of Cypriot Greek heritage. He has memories of Greektown and was related to the owners of the Grecian Gardens restaurant. Show business has always been in his blood, as he recalls experiences meeting Frank Sinatra, Pat Morita, and even the Beatles, as part of his early exposure to the world of theatre and cinema.

Some may remember Michael as president of Pharoh's Golden Cup Promotions and co-owner of Pharoh's Club, Livonia, which conducted all age musical events. In his six years at Pharoh's, Michael produced over 850 events involving over 3500 bands. He also coordinated Tie-in Promotions with such companies as Sony, Capital, and Maverick Records, also including: Nabisco, Hershey, Josta, Snapple, AOL…

Mike is fiercely loyal to his Cypriot roots. His grandfather, Michael Christos Kashalos is considered the father of contemporary Cypriot Naïve art. His work can be found at the State Gallery of contemporary Cypriot Art, the Cyprus Folk Art Museum the Cultural Centre of Popular Bank and in private collections. In 1969, he was awarded the Bratislava 2nd Tiennal of Naïve Art Award and posthoumous, the Athens Academy Award. He was seriously wounded during the Turkish invasion of his village Ashafarmagousta in 1974, and died as a refugee in Larneca shortly after.

Mike is married to Mihaela and has four children, Paul, Melina, Anastasia, and Dimitri. He resides between Hollywood and Livonia. Malista wishes him much success in his upcoming role.
