Grateful
Community Extends Thanks!

A Thank You Message
from the Frangoulis Planning Committee
Re-printed from the Assumption Epistle May, 2006
May, 2006 - On behalf of the Mario Frangoulis Concert Committee, I extend
a huge thank you to all who supported this meaningful effort, especially
to those of you who purchased tickets to see a relatively unknown-in-America
performer. We thank you for your 'leap of faith.' Many were, indeed, aware
of Mario's extraordinary vocal genius and came to experience it first
hand. Others came to support their church and/or the programs of the Metropolis
of Detroit. And still others, both Greek and non-Greeks alike, came to
celebrate our collective love of music and Hellenism. A love that Mario
spoke of when he told the audience "How proud I am to be Greek, I
love my Greek heritage."
But whether you purchased
tickets, helped with promotion, were a sponsor or provided special considerations,
know that all of you contributed greatly to make the concert an unqualified
success. While the crowd was not as large as we had hoped, the concert
was both a monetary and cultural success.
For those in attendance
May 6th, it only took a moment to realize we were about to witness something
very special. And it was gratifying to see Mario's marvelous energy matched
by our great enthusiasm. (No performer does 6 encores without connecting
with his audience.)
To those of you who,
for whatever reason, could not attend, I have both bad news and good news.
Mario has said that he would like to come back, in the not too distant
future, and perform again. I can only tell you that you should get your
tickets early because he won't be an 'unknown-in-America performer' the
next time around.
Last, but certainly
not least, a very special and heartfelt thanks to Mario. EFHARISTO for
donating your time and your extraordinary talent for the benefit of our
community. We will never forget your tremendous gift and look forward,
with great anticipation, to your return.
In closing, please
know that Mario Frangoulis, his fellow musicians, Theodoris Oikonomou,
Ioannis Karagiannis, Ioannis Belonis, and Grigorios Syntridis, lighting
specialist, Georgios Charalambous, and agents, Mary Telemachou, and Matthew
Inge, are now and forever more, honorary members of the Assumption Greek
Orthodox Church and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit.
Tony Niarhos
Malista extends its
heartfelt thanks to the committee and contributors for supporting this
event and allowing us to "connect" with our heritage and our
culture. Congratulations to all.
Malista!
