Essential Oil for October – Oregano

Elena: Malista, Angel. Are you getting ready for the Daughters of Penelope Festival of Tables?

Angel: You know I am! It’s been lots of fun with my theme, “My Favorite Things!”

Elena: So what does that have to do with your essential oils and what the oil is for the month?

Angel: Everything! When I decided on my theme, I thought of the song from the Sound of Music and made some new words with MY favorite things!

Elena: Sing it for me!

Angel: Okay, here goes! (Sings)

Raindrop and roses and ointment for kittens,
Bright stainless kettles, with these, I am smitten,
Brown paper packages that Fed Ex brings
These are a few of my favorite things!

When the dog bites (lavender)
When the bee stings (Purification)
When I’m feeling sad (Christmas Spirit)
I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad!

Elena: (Laughs) That’s clever! But what does it have to do with oregano oil?

Angel: Well, oregano is included in Young Living’s Raindrop Treatment, hence the reference to “Raindrop” instead of “raindrops” in the lyrics.

Elena: What in the world is a “Raindrop Treatment?”

Angel: I’m glad you asked! It’s a technique developed by Young Living’s founder, Gary Young, in which a person lies face down and then oils are “dropped” on a person’s spine, one at a time, like raindrops, are spread around using various methods and then warm towels are applied!

Elena: That sounds like a spa! What does it do for you?

Angel: Actually, they offer the Raindrop Technique at the Bellagio Spa in Las Vegas!

Elena: Really? How awesome!

Angel: We have a Raindrop Technique DVD available to everyone to purchase for $10 that describes it in detail, but basically, the oils used help to reduce pain, inflammation and stress, improve circulation and immunity, and release pent-up, negative emotions!

Elena: Wow! That is amazing!

Angel: Yes, it is! The oils are so wonderful in so many ways!

Elena: So what else is special about oregano?

Angel: Well, as you know, we Greeks use it in cooking! I have made healthy, instant salad dressing using a spray bottle filled with olive oil – by the way, olive oil is unique in that it is both an aromatic, essential oil as well as an oil used for cooking – and then I add lemon essential oil and oregano essential oil which makes it more Greek or Mediterranean!

Oregano is one of the most powerful and versatile essential oils. It contains strong immune-enhancing and anti-oxidant properties and supports the respiratory system.

Elena: It sounds like it would be good for the winter months!

Angel: Absolutely!

Elena: So my last question is, of course, what are your specials for Malista visitors?

Young Living OreganoAngel: New customers will receive a sample of oregano essential oil, preferred customers will receive my healthy, instant Greek salad dressing with olive oil, lemon and oregano, and new distributors will receive both the oregano essential oil AND the salad dressing. If anyone enrolls in our Essential Rewards Autoship Program, I will give him or her a Raindrop Technique DVD, as well!

Elena: Once again, Angel, you are so generous!

Angel: Only the best for our Malista visitors!

Elena: I’ll see you at the Festival of Tables on October 26th!

Angel: I’m really looking forward to it! Malista!

Essential Oil of the September - Lemon

Elena: Malista, Angel. How is your summer?

Angel: It's been wonderful! I've been taking a "staycation" in Michigan - enjoying Detroit Tigers games, going swimming in beautiful Michigan lakes, and last night Mike and I went to Ann Arbor to see Roger Mc Guinn and John Sebastian - a great show! The entire audience was singing along to all these excellent songs from the Lovin' Spoonful and Byrds!

Elena: Sounds like fun. What essential oil are you featuring for September?

Angel: This month there was no question - it's lemon!

Elena: Wow. I didn't know you had lemon essential oil. How do you use it?

Angel: Well, for starters, I always carry around a little bottle of lemon oil and I put it in my drinking water wherever I am!

Elena: So no need to ask for lemons in a restaurant?

Angel: Exactly! It makes the water taste so fresh and delicious along with purifying it!
I have also used it in cooking - the tiniest bit goes a long way. You know we Greeks use lemon extensively in cooking and when I don't have a fresh lemon, I never worry, as I have my fresh and purely distilled lemon essential oil! I have used it in skordalia (garlic dip) and salads - I make my own healthy dressing using pure, Greek olive oil and a few drops of lemon essential oil in a spray bottle. I have gotten rave reviews from it!

Elena: It does sound good and then you know what you are getting!

Angel: You are so right! I would like to encourage our Malista readers to read labels, and make sure that the ingredients are recognizable and not synthetic chemicals or genetically-modified foods! With Young Living essential oils there is never any question as to their purity and potency!

Elena: How else do you use lemon?

Angel: I'm so glad you asked - I almost forgot! Lemon essential oil is an excellent cleanser and solvent! I have removed stubborn adhesives using just a tiny drop of the oil! It's so nice to be able to clean things without harsh chemicals or bleach. And did I mention the lovely, fresh, natural scent? It's just like slicing a fresh lemon!

Elena: How much is the lemon oil?

Angel: Lemon is one of the least expensive oils! The retail (customer) price for a large (15 ml) bottle is $12.83, the preferred customer price is $11.29, and the wholesale (distributor) price is only $9.75!

Elena: Wow, that is cheap!

Angel: Not "cheap" but inexpensive! Especially for such a high quality essential oil!

Elena: What are your Malista specials for this month?

Angel: Customers will receive a sample of lemon essential oil, and preferred customers will also receive a slice of Lemon-Sandalwood soap and distributors will receive a full bar of the soap along with the sample of lemon essential oil!

Elena: So when life gives us lemons, we can make lemonade?

Angel: Definitely! I have made lemonade using the wonderfully fresh, therapeutic-grade, lemon essential oil and our organic Blue Agave and it tastes delicious and has a very low glycemic index!

But when life gives us lemons, we can also just be grateful and enjoy the benefits of our precious, God-given "lemoni!"

Elena: Malista!

Essential Oil of the Month Peppermint

Elena: Malista, Angel! We haven't talked in so long! What essential
oil are you featuring?

Angel: Hi, Elena. It's always so easy. This one is my favorite and
the one essential oil I cannot live without! It's peppermint!

Elena: Why peppermint?

Angel: So many reasons! It is included in the "Essential Seven"
Kit, along with lavender and lemon and the blends of Joy, Peace and
Calming, Purification and Pan Away.

As soon as I open the bottle, I instantly smell the familiar, cooling,
refreshing and very potent scent of peppermint.

One time I had a lot of oils with me but did not have peppermint and
that works the best for me, so now I never leave home without it!

If I am feeling stuffy, I will drop a little oil on my palm, rub it in
and cup my hands over my nose. What a feeling! It instantly clears me up
and helps me to breathe easier!

Elena: That's amazing!

Angel: Yes, it is. And if I have a headache, I will put a little on my
temples and neck and in a few minutes I feel much better without any
medication!

My friend, Nancy always asks me for peppermint oil and she puts a drop
right on her tongue! Again, it is very refreshing and clears you up!

Elena: So it's okay to take it, internally?

Angel: Yes! Remember, Young Living's essential oils exceed all other
standards and are "therapeutic-grade", meaning that they are so
pure, as they are distilled from plants created by God and are not
adulterated in any way!

Elena: We certainly can't improve on God's creation!

Angel: That's for sure! One time, someone had a scented candle and
she asked me what I thought it was and it was sort of sweet, but I
couldn't tell. She said it was jasmine, but then I pulled out a bottle
of my essential oil of jasmine and her candle didn't smell anything at
all like the lovely, pure, real thing! Who knows what was in the
"jasmine" scented candle!

Elena: I guess you could say her artificially-scented candle couldn't
hold a candle to the real thing - no pun intended!

Angel: (Laughs.) That's funny, Elena, but you're absolutely right!

It's the same with gum and mints artificially flavored with
"peppermint", "cinnamon", "wintergreen" or "spearmint."
We carry the genuine, authentic scents from these substances! They
simply cannot be duplicated using synthetic substances and/or toxic and
sometimes even carcinogenic chemicals!

Elena: It's reassuring in this day and age that your company is truly
"green." What else can you do with peppermint?

Angel: Applied topically, it is great for easing pain and has been said
to reduce fever when applied to the skin through the feet!

I also like to add it to cold water - very refreshing, or added to hot
water, it makes an excellent, potent peppermint tea!

Lastly, I heard that it is very easy to make a body scrub using sugar
or salt, some olive oil and a few drops of peppermint oil. Imagine how
wonderful that would feel on one's feet on a hot day or after standing
all day!

Elena: That sounds wonderful! We should have a spa party!

Angel: I thought you'd never ask! (Laughs.)

Elena: What are your specials for Malista viewers?

Angel: Customers will receive a sample of peppermint oil. Preferred
customers will receive the peppermint oil and a sample of Peppermint -
Cedarwood bar soap, and distributors will receive the peppermint oil and
a full bar of the lovely Peppermint - Cedarwood soap!

Elena: How can our website visitors take advantage of these specials?

Angel: It's so easy. They only need to click on the link that leads
to my website and they can enroll in any of those three ways and order
safely and securely from my site!

Elena: Didn't you say you have a new, easier website address/URL?

Angel: Yes, I do! It's www.youngliving.org/angelbrock
It's so much easier to remember than a number, although, I'm glad
to say, the website can still be accessed with my distributor number, as
well!

Elena: It sounds very user-friendly.

Angel: It is! Happy shopping and Malista!

Elena: See you for the next interview. Malista!

February

"We honor our stewardship to champion nature's living energy, essential oils by fostering a community of healing and discovery while inspiring individuals to wellness, purpose and abundance."

www.youngliving.org/287231

Elena: Chronia Polla, Angel. Hope your holidays were great.

Angel: Happy New Year, Elena. They were warm and wonderful as always, spending fun times with relatives.

Elena: So what is your essential oil of the month for February?

Angel: Sometimes this is so easy! I chose Geranium, as it is our company special from January 16th to February 15th. In addition, Young Living's Geranium oil was mentioned in the December/January issue of Domino Magazine! Pangea Organics founder and alchemist, Joshua Onysko, states, "The best essential oil by far is geranium. The scent, sweet and pungent, goes right to the frontal lobe, relieving tension and anxiety. The oil also helps speed up the reproduction of skin cells - a few drops mixed into a cup of sea salt and jojoba oil is a rejuvenating body polish." $35.33/15 ml, YOUNG LIVING (800) 371-2928

Elena: Fantastic! Your essential oils are getting good press and people are becoming aware of them.

Angel: Exactly! As I always say, they must be experienced to be believed. We cannot feel or smell over the internet!

Elena: (Laughs) Well, not yet, anyway. Who knows? So what has your experience been with Geranium?

Angel: Similar to Joshua's - that it has a sweet and pungent scent. My husband, Mike loves it almost as much as rose! The company catalog states it "has a wonderfully uplifting, calming, flowery scent. It is excellent for the skin, and its aromatic influence helps release negative memories. Used traditionally to support the circulatory and nervous systems, a great deal of its strength lies in its ability to revitalize body tissues." I've also heard it's supportive in menopause and is good for the liver, as well.

Elena: It sounds very versatile.

Angel: Like all of the oils, it is! One time, my sister, Dianne, had a sore muscle and the only oil she had with her was Geranium. It worked!

Elena: That's great! So what are your Malista specials this month?

Angel: New customers/preferred customers who enroll @ www.youngliving.org/287231 will receive a sample bottle of Geranium. New distributors will receive the sample bottle of Geranium plus our lovely Thieves Hand Sanitizer- great for killing even super-germs!

Elena: Awesome! Talk to you next month! It's always fun to see what oil you will feature!

Angel: It's fun for me, too, and always keeps me thinking - a good thing

Elena: Malista!

Essential Oils Makes Donation to Camp Auction!

Check out my websites @ www.Angel.marketingscents.com or www.youngliving.org/287231

I have been using these amazing oils and products for several years but have just recently launched my business and would greatly appreciate everyone's help to "spread the word!"

Elena: Yiassou, Angel. It was great to see you at the “For the Love of Camp” auction.

Angel: Likewise, Elena. What a magical night! It was so exciting to see people out-bidding one another for the “suzie” sign and the quilt made of camp t-shirts! I also thought the s’mores were a nice touch!

Elena: I agree! I noticed you had your diffuser, there with “Campessence.”

Angel: Yes! Everyone who smelled it said it smelled just like camp! I also got comments like, “It smells therapeutic” and, “It smells just like the woods, and not at all artificial.”

Elena: That was a hard act to follow! So what are you featuring for Malista visitors this month?

Angel: Since the last time we had an interview was in August, I decided to showcase oils from September through December.
As September First is the beginning of the church calendar year, and September 14th is the Feast of Holy Cross, I decided to feature two oils, Basil and Palo Santo for September.

Elena: Okay, I understand Basil, as people bring it to church to be blessed and St. Helen told her soldiers to dig where they found the beautiful basil growing, but what is Palo Santo?

Angel: I knew you would ask me that! Palo Santo is from Equador and literally means, “Sacred Wood” or Holy Wood.”

Elena: Okay, I get it. Like Holy Cross?

Angel: Exactly! The people from Equador have used it for years. It comes from the same botanical family as frankincense and myrrh, and therefore has many of the same beneficial properties!

Elena: So what about October?

Angel: Well, I thought about the blend, Gathering, as it is the harvest season. Gathering is comprised of : lavender, frankincense, spruce, geranium, sandalwood, rose, galbanum , ylang ylang and cinnamon bark!
And for November, I of course chose Gratitude, for obvious reasons! Gratitude contains balsam fir, rosewood, galbanum, frankincense, myrrh and ylang ylang.

Elena: Perfect!  We have so much for which to be grateful! What about December?

Angel: That was the easiest of all and one of my all-time favorite blends, Christmas Spirit.

Elena: It sounds beautiful. What’s in it?

Angel: Cinnamon, orange and spruce: exquisite, homey, comforting scents associated with the holidays.

Elena; Once again, for our Malista visitors, how do you use these oils?

Angel: I love to put Christmas Spirit in a spritzer bottle with water and use it to freshen the air so I can breathe the pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils. Another way is to put some in a diffuser and the room will smell as if there is a real, fresh, Christmas tree and someone is baking cinnamon cookies or heating wassail punch! Since this has been my favorite blend for over ten years, I always carry a small bottle with me in my purse, all during the year! If I’m stressed, I open my little bottle and it calms and comforts me!

Elena: Do you offer any special products that contain these oils?

Angel: Well, there is a beautiful kit called “Essence of the Season” that makes the perfect Christmas present! It comes in a beautiful red and gold box with a star and has Christmas Spirit, Frankincense and Myrrh oils as well as the resins of frankincense and myrrh to be used as incense! It is going to be auctioned off at our second annual “Essence of the Season” Holiday Marketplace at Holy Cross on December First.

Elena: That sounds fun! Will you be exhibiting your oils, there along with other vendors , bakers and crafters?

Angel: Yes. I will have Christmasey items for sale, including essential oils used in holiday cooking, such as peppermint, cinnamon, clove, orange and nutmeg. I will also diffuse Christmas Spirit. My God-daughter, Tracey Vlahos will feature Arbonne International. There will also be live Christmas music from Angel and the Badmen and Nick of the Prevas Brothers, and, naturally, lots of spinach pie!

Elena: What are your Malista specials for the rest of the year?

Angel: New Malista customers who visit my website @ www.youngliving.org/287231 or call the number: 1 (800) 371-3515 to enroll will receive a sample of an oil or blend I have featured this year. New preferred customers will receive the sample oil of their choice plus our new Thieves Waterless Hand Cleaner. New distributors will receive those two items as well as a bar of Thieves soap. By the way, the Thieves blend smells like the holidays as well, containing the essential oils of cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary!

Elena: Sounds good enough to eat!

Angel: It is! And remember, whatever we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies, so we want to be using these pure and wonderful non-toxic products!

Elena: Malista, Angel! See you next year for some more interviews. Will you run out of oils?

Angel: No! There are so many! New plants and subsequently oils are being discovered and added for their therapeutic benefits by the founder of our company, Gary Young. My sister, Dianne and I attended the annual Young Living Grand convention in Washington, D.C. in early September and it was just absolutely phenomenal with world-class physicians, scientists and researchers sharing their hard data and personal testimonials about these amazing oils! We also discovered that wonderful, innovative products containing essential oils are consistently being developed as well.

Elena: Like the Waterless Hand Cleaner?

Angel: Yes, and the wonderful Thieves Foaming Soap! It’s so popular that it is currently back-ordered! But it is still available if one enrolls and purchases the “Start Living With Thieves” Kit .It is also available to distributors and preferred customers in the Essential Rewards program in the Thieves Autoship Pack.

Elena: What is Essential Rewards?

Angel: If a distributor or preferred customer signs up to receive an automatic shipment delivered to his or her door for at least $50 worth of products each month, he or she will begin to accrue points for free products! I now receive 20% of Essential Rewards points on my monthly orders!

Elena: That sounds great! Kind of like those buying and warehouse clubs, which are so popular!

Angel: Yes! Except that one does not have to pay a fee every year to be a member! Once you enroll as a distributor, you only have to pay the initial fee to receive the wholesale prices and only need to order $50 once a year, if you choose not to be on Essential Rewards. But I can’t imagine NOT being on it, and my biggest “problem” is limiting what I buy each month! (Laughs) I heard someone say that no one likes to sell or be given a “sales pitch” but everyone loves to shop! (Laughs)

Elena: So true! I know I sure do!

Angel: I also wanted to tell you how absolutely gorgeous the pictures are from Yorg and Jennifer’s wedding and compliment you on your extremely well written and very touching article as the mother of the groom!

Elena: It was a labor of love!

Angel: Malista!

Essential Oil for July/August

Elena: Hi, Angel. We haven't talked in a while. What are your oils or blends for July and August ?

Angel: Hi, Elena. This is always so easy! Young Living had its annual "Lavender Days" in July on their 120 acre Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah. The festival included a 5K run/walk through the lavender fields! Plus, lavender is probably the most popular single oil and has been referred to as " the Swiss Army Knife of oils" due to its versatility!

Elena: I like that! How is it used?

Angel: Lavender is very relaxing, so some people inhale it or put it on their feet before bedtime. But it is also very balancing and has been known to make people more alert, as well!

When I go for a walk in the woods, or for a ride on my bike, I always bring my lavender. If a mosquito bites me, I apply lavender immediately and it stops the horrible itching and swelling. I scraped my knee on my bike, yesterday and thought I would get a bad injury and scar - it really hurt and bled, but I put lavender on the wound and today it is almost gone!
It is also good for burns and helps them to heal in record time!

In fact, that's how therapeutic lavender was discovered in modern times! Dr. Rene Gattefosse severely burned his arm in a chemical experiment, but dipped his arm in pure lavender oil. His arm healed beautifully and he coined the term "aromatherapy!"

Elena: Wow! That is amazing! I have seen a lot of products @ drugstores and the mall with lavender in them.

Angel: Many products say they contain lavender, but let the buyer beware! So many companies have seemingly jumped on the bandwagon, but the products are not pure or safe and the synthetic chemicals may be very harmful! One never has to worry with Young Living, as all of our oils are organically-grown and therapeutic-grade.

Elena: Point well-taken! What are your Malista lavender specials?

Angel: New customers will receive a sample of lavender oil. Preferred customers will receive the lavender sample plus Lavender-Rosewood bar soap. New distributors will receive these items plus a bottle of Lavender Volume Shampoo!

Elena: You are always so generous!

Angel: We reap what we sow! I want everyone to enjoy these wonderful oils!

Elena: Malista! Okay, now what about for August?

Angel: As you know, Elena, every year I get so "campsick" for our beautiful Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp in Rose City, Michigan. I first attended camp when I was seven, but I went with my parents to take my sister, Dianne and cousin , Dollie when I was just 2&1/2! I haven't been there since I was 19 and the music director, but the camp has always been such a big part of my life!

Elena: So what does this have to do with the oils?

Angel: Everything! The first time I opened a bottle of pure spruce oil, I was immediately transported in my mind to camp! The same thing happened when I smelled Evergreen Essence which I have nicknamed "Campessence!"

There is also a Young Living single oil of wintergreen. I remember walking around the lake at camp and finding small, round leaves of wintergreen. I would pick them, tear them open and inhale the wintergreen scent! Our wintergreen oil of course smells exactly like those torn leaves!

Elena: So how do you use these oils?

Angel: The very best way to safely waft these scents through the air is with a Young Living diffuser. It disperses the pure, natural scent in a fine, cool mist! I also put a few drops in a spritzer bottle and it freshens the air and smells so heavenly!
Spruce is soft and sweet and supports the respiratory and nervous systems. It has been used in baths and massages.
Wintergreen is great applied topically to sore muscles and for head tension. It is also used as a safe flavoring.
Evergreen Essence/"Campessence" contains a blend of conifers that instantly takes me back to camp in my mind! Thanks to my dear sister, Dianne, for introducing me to the wonderful world of Young Living more than ten years ago!

Elena: This is so cool! What are your "Campessence" specials?

Angel: New customers (or active customers who place an order) will receive a sample of spruce, wintergreen or "Campessence" oil. Preferred customers will receive all three oil samples and a spritzer bottle. New distributors will receive all this as well as a full (15 ml) bottle of spruce, wintergreen or "Campessence!"

Elena: This is great, Angel. So if you don't make it to camp this year, at least you can smell your "Campessence."
You had also told me that you are donating and attending the "For the Love of Camp" auction in October.

Angel: Yes. The camp is so dear to my heart and I feel we who love it should support it! I think all of us current and former "Happy Campers" will enjoy the "Campessence!"

And I'm so excited about the plans for and design of the chapel!

Elena: A dream come true!
And all our Malista visitors need to do to experience "Campessence" is click on your links, right?

www.youngliving.org/287231

www.Angel.marketingscents.com

Angel: Yes! Or if they prefer, they can call 1 (800) 371-3515 and give customer service my distributor # (287231) and they can speak with a real person from Lehi, Utah in the good old U.S.A. to guide them through!

Elena: Fantastic! See you in September!

Angel: Malista!

Essential Oil for June, 2007 - "Purification"

Elena: Yiassou, Angel! What is your essential oil or blend for this month?

Angel: Yiassou, Elena! Well, since this is the end of May and there are so many celebrations this month and next, like Mother's Day, Ascension, Pentecost, Graduation and Father's Day, I have chosen to showcase the Purification blend and KidScents product line.

By the way, your Mother's Day tribute was well-written, uplifting and inspiring!

Elena: Thank you, Angel. So tell me more about Purification and how is it used?

Angel: Since there are many outdoor celebrations, insects, particularly bees are in abundance! A few years ago when I was outside on my patio, a bee hovered around and would not leave! I have always had horrible reactions to insect bites and bee stings, so I was anxious, to say the least! Well, I brought out a bottle of Purification and the bee left instantly and peacefully! They just do not like the oils in the blend!

Elena: What is in the blend?

Angel: Purification contains pure essential oils of citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca alternafolia, lavandin and myrtle.

I have used Purification in this way numerous times to repel bees, spiders, mosquitoes and other insects. I made my own insect spray by putting a few drops in a spray bottle with water and it works like a charm, not to mention it smells lemony and fresh!

Elena: Couldn't I just buy an inexpensive citronella candle or bug spray from the drug store?

Angel: The commercial candles contain paraffin, which is highly toxic and the "citronella" that they use is also harmful, releasing dangerous chemicals into the air we breathe. Not safe for children, pets or anyone with a compromised immune system!

And the dangers of bug spray have been well-documented!

So the Purification is a DEET-free alternative that works for both the prevention and relief of insect bites and stings. A friend of mine had a horrible spider bite that spread, swelled and became hard. She was going to go to the doctor if it didn't improve. We put Purification on it and it became much better almost instantly!

When I do get bit, I put it on afterwards and the welts disappear before my eyes. It also relieves my pain and itching.Be aware that citrus oils may cause an increased reaction to the sun.

We truly get what we pay for and remember, "The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten!"

Elena: That is a great saying and one by which to live! It probably comes from the Greek!

Angel: I'm sure it does!

Elena: Besides repelling insects, how do you use Purification?

Angel: As with all the oils, it can be diffused or applied topically. A drop of Purification can also be added to the dishwasher. Its scent can eliminate other, unpleasant smells like cigarette smoke, mold and mildew.

Elena: Hence the name, Purification?

Angel: Exactly!

Elena: What about the KidScents line?

Angel: It consists of KidScents Shampoo, Bath Gel, Lotion, Toothpaste and Tender Tush as well as MightyVites, MightyZyme and MightyMist Oral Spray Supplements, all very pure.

In fact, I use the Kidscents shampoo and lotion, as they are both so mild and have a subtle, fresh, natural scent.

Elena: Sounds great, Angel. Tender Tush is a funny name!

Angel: It may sound funny, but it works great for babies, contains no mineral oil, is good for other skincare and is helpful for expectant mothers who are concerned with stretch marks.

Elena: Okay, Malista readers want to know what your specials are this month.

Angel: New customers will receive a sample of Purification oil, new preferred customers will receive the sample plus a spray bottle of my insect spray and new distributors will receive those two items as well as KidScents Bath Gel (not just for kids!)

Elena: How do they take advantage of this offer?

Angel: It's so easy. They can click on either www.Angel.marketingscents.com to watch a cute, informational video about essential oils (that website links to my YL website) or go directly to www.youngliving.org/287231 and click on "sign up here" to order. The orders will come directly to their homes!

Elena: Sounds easy and convenient.

Angel: It is! It is access to a wonderful, on-line health and wellness store!

Elena: Thank you for this month's interview and we'll do it again for July. Malista readers can also access all of our other interviews as they are archived on our site.

Angel: I thank you so much for that. It is especially good for people who are reading this one for the first time. This way they can learn about all the other oils we have already talked about!

Elena: So what oil are you going to feature in July?

Angel: My lips are sealed! People will just have to keep visiting the Malista site to find out!

Elena: Malista!

Essential Oil for April, 2007 - "Abundance"

Elena: Christos Anesti, Angel! What is your Malista "Essential Oil of the Month" for April?

Angel: Truly He is Lord! This was easy. I am featuring the Abundance blend.

Elena: Why did you choose Abundance?

Angel: As this is the Paschal season, the season of the Resurrection of Christ and the holiest of feast days in the Orthodox Church, I chose Abundance! After all, Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and that they have it more abundantly!" (John 10:10, Orthodox Study Bible.)

Elena: Okay, that makes sense. Why else did you choose it?

Angel: There is a lot of talk going around about "The Law of Attraction" and that we attract to us what we think about. The ingredients in this blend all have extremely positive qualities!

Elena: What are the ingredients in Abundance?

Angel: Orange, clove, cinnamon, frankincense, ginger, spruce, patchouli and myrrh. All of these substances were prized for their value throughout history and many were more precious than gold.
The scent of orange is very uplifting. Clove is the highest-scoring single ingredient ever tested for its antioxidant capacity on the ORAC scale! Cinnamon was the main reason for the occupation of Ceylon, first by the Portugese, then the Dutch then the British! We talked last month about the incredible spiritual benefits of frankincense and how it was given to the Christ Child by the Wise Men. Ginger is also soothing and comforting. My mom always gave me Vernor's Ginger Ale growing up in Detroit! Spruce is a sweet evergreen that immediately makes me think of our beloved summer camp in Rose City! It is said to bring feelings of peace and security. Spruce is definitely one of my favorite single oils. Patchouli (the "scent of the sixties") is said to release negative emotions. And myrrh is another Biblical oil which contains high levels of sesquiterpenes that have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary and amygdala, the seat of our emotions.

Elena: Wow! It sounds very exotic and spicy and it has such a rich history. I can see why you chose it for this month. How is it used?

Angel: Once again, it can be inhaled, diffused through the air in a fine, cool mist or applied topically.

One woman stated she puts it on her heart to receive more love from the people around her.

The most recent Young Living regional meeting was entitled "2007, The Year of Abundance." As one of the first people at the meeting, I received a free bottle of Abundance. I put the bottle by my computer and then all of a sudden I had someone I never met sign up as a distributor. Coincidence?

Elena: That is cool! What are your Malista specials this month?

Angel: New customers will receive a sample of Abundance. New preferred customers will receive a sample of Abundance and a packet of NingXia Red. New distributors will also receive a bottle of Longevity capsules.

Elena: That's great! How do they get these specials?

Angel: They can click on my new website: www.Angel.marketingscents.com to see an animated video about the benefits of therapeutic-grade essential oils. This website will also link to my Young Living website where they can sign up in any of those three ways. Visitors just need to make sure they tell me they found out about it through Malista so I can "make good" on my offers!

Elena: Right! And not just because you had that bottle of Abundance oil near your laptop!

Angel: (Laughs.) Yes! Seriously, though, my prayers for all of us are for a truly abundant life in every way. Christos Anesti!

Elena: Alithos Anesti and Malista!

Essential Oil for March, 2007 - "Essense of the Season"

Elena: Malista visitors are wondering what your oil or oil blend is for March.

Angel: Hello, Elena. Since this is the season of Great Lent in the Orthodox Church, I have decided to showcase a few oils as "Essential Lenten Scents."

Elena: Sounds interesting, Angel. What do you mean by that and what are the oils?

Angel: There are a lot of Biblical references to certain substances/oils/fragrances during Great Lent and especially Holy Week.

The ones that most come to mind are frankincense, myrrh, hyssop and spikenard. Young Living has each of these oils as a single oil and many of them are also in blends.

Elena: I am very familiar with frankincense as it is burned in church.

Angel: Yes! As soon as I open a bottle of frankincense oil, I instantly think of church and am transported to that place of peace in my mind! Frankincense is very powerful and crosses the blood-brain barrier. It has been used throughout the centuries and of course was given as a precious gift by the Wise Men to the infant Jesus!

Elena: Do you burn the frankincense oil?

Angel: No, as with all the other essential oils, I diffuse it, inhale it or apply it topically.

However, Young Living does carry a kit called "Essence of the Season" which contains the resins of both frankincense and myrrh. These resins can be burned.

Elena: Okay, what about myrrh?

Angel: In the Holy Week book, there are some quotes containing references to myrrh, such as, "The harlot came to you, merciful Lord, pouring on your feet myrrh, mixed with tears." And, "Anointed with the perceptible myrrh, O Christ God, set us free from overwhelming passions and have mercy on us as the only Merciful and Loving God. Amen."

Elena: What about the other oils you chose, hyssop and spikenard?

Angel: The quote which comes to mind most often is, "Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean; wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."
Hyssop was sacred to the ancient Greeks. It has a fresh, woody, slightly sweet scent. Noted for its purifying properties, it supports the immune, nervous and digestive systems and has been studied for its effects on opening the respiratory system.

Elena: What is spikenard?

Angel: It was used in India as a perfume, medicinal herb and skin tonic. It was prized at the time of Christ, and I believe the Biblical reference to "costly nard" refers to spikenard. If so, then this was the oil used by Mary of Bethany to anoint the feet of Jesus right before the Last Supper!

Elena: Are there any products containing these oils?

Angel: Absolutely! There is a new supplement, Longevity, which contains frankincense.
The ART (Age Refining Technology) Skin Care Line (Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Day Activator and Night Reconstructor Creams) also contains frankincense!

There are also many blends like Exodus II, 3 Wise Men, Forgiveness, Inspiration, Harmony, Hope, Humility and Valor that contain "Biblical" oils. There is also a "Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture" kit containing these and other oils.

Elena: I learn so much every time we have one of these interviews! What are your Malista specials this month?

Angel: New customers will receive a sample of frankincense, myrrh, hyssop or spikenard.
New preferred customers will receive a sample of their oil of choice as well as some samples of the ART skin care creams.
New distributors will, in addition to the oil and ART samples, receive a bottle of Longevity capsules!

Elena: Once again, a generous offer! How do our Malista visitors take advantage of this?

Angel: It's so easy! If they visit my website @ www.youngliving.org/287231 and click on "sign up here" they can be a customer, preferred customer or distributor!

Essential Oil for February, 2007 - Joy Essential Oil

Malista: Hi, Angel our readers are really waiting for this month's selection. So, what is the essential oil or blend of the month for February?

Angel: Hi, Elena! This was an easy choice. February is always associated with matters of the heart, like Valentine's Day and more recently heart health, so I chose the blend, Joy.

The Joy blend contains bergamot, ylang ylang, geranium, rosewood, lemon, mandarin, jasmine Roman chamomile, palmarosa and rose. (Most of these, like rose, jasmine and lemon, actually everything but palmarosa come in a single oil form. Young Living has over 90 single oils!)

Elena: February. You're right. Matters of the heart and romantic times. But without wine or chocolate?

Angel: We can have those, too, but the oils don't contain calories or alcohol, so you're on to something!

Elena: The million-dollar question, again. How is Joy used?

Angel: The million-dollar answer! You can inhale Joy just by opening the bottle or by putting one drop in your palm, rubbing your palms together and taking a deep breath.

As Joy is a floral, romantic scent, you can always use it as a fragrance. A friend of mine uses jasmine instead of perfume, and my husband, Michael loves the rose oil and lets me know in no uncertain terms when we're running low!

It is actually suggested that Joy be applied on the heart and it is very uplifting and mood-elevating!

Rose oil, alone can also be diluted and used for the best rosewater in cooking, like for baklava. One only needs the tiniest bit in water.

Rose has the highest frequency of all the oils, and is, therefore very uplifting to the spirits.

Any of the oils can be added to Young Living's Bath Gel Base to create pure, individual, fragranced liquid soap!

All of the oils can be diffused, imparting a fine mist of fragrance through a room.

Elena: That sounds lovely. You mean like on a light bulb?

Angel: Actually, no, as the oils will lose their beneficial properties when heated. So a Young Living diffuser is great, as is a cool-water misting product, or even a spray bottle with water and a few drops of oil. Oils used in any of these ways will take away unpleasant smoke or smells from an area. I also like to mist rosewater on my face and think it helps my skin.

Elena: I am, of course familiar with rose, jasmine, geranium, lemon and mandarin, and know that bergamot is the distinctive flavoring in Earl Grey tea, but what are ylang ylang, rosewood and palmarosa?

Angel: Ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) is a sweet flower that has been often used in Indonesia where they strew its petals across marriage beds. It is said to be calming and relaxing. It has a long history in skin and hair products, particularly in Asia where it is used to promote luxuriant hair!

Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) has a woody, floral scent that is comforting and soothing. It has been researched for its ability to support the body's natural defenses. Its soothing and refreshing qualities also make it a sought-after ingredient in skin products.

I'm not sure, yet about palmarosa. There is always so much more to learn about these amazing oils and their properties!

Elena: Last month, you mentioned all the products that contain the Thieves blend. Is there a Joy line?

Angel: Not a Joy line, per se, but Sensation Bath and Shower Gel and Sensation Hand and Body Lotion contain 3 of the ingredients in Joy (rosewood, ylang ylang and jasmine.) The lotion also has MSM and antioxidant vitamins. These are both very beautiful, luxuriant and reasonably priced.

There is also a product called Aqua Essence Bath Pack. It does come in Joy! It is described as an at-home spa experience!

And the Meadow Mist Deodorant, which I love and use every day, contains lemon, geranium and rosewood from the Joy blend.

The most wonderful quality of the Young Living Products besides the therapeutic-grade oils is their strict adherence to the absolutely purest, non-toxic ingredients.

It is also important to mention that there is a brand-new supplement, Omega Blue, which contains pure fish oil (free of heavy metals, PCBs and dioxins) that supports heart health!

And since February is "Go Red" month, we can wear our red and drink it, too with NingXia Red!

Elena: What is NingXia Red?

Angel: It is a delicious, powerful, anti-oxidant, whole fruit infusion containing whole wolfberries, pomegranates, blueberries and raspberries, 21 essential minerals and 18 amino acids! It has the highest ORAC number of any juice on the market and again, contains no sugar and nothing but the most pristine ingredients!

Elena: I can't wait to sample the scent of Joy and taste the NingXia Red. What are your Malista specials this month?

Angel: New customers will receive a tiny sample of Joy and a sample packet of NingXia Red. New preferred customers will receive the samples of Joy and NingXia Red plus a Meadow Mist Deodorant. New distributors will, in addition to the other items, also receive a bottle of Omega Blue!
Just click on www.youngliving.org/287231 and click on "sign up here" in any of the 3 categories mentioned and let me know you heard about it on Malista.

Elena: Once again, an extremely generous offer!

Angel: Nothing but the best for our Malista friends! To romantic love, friendship, agape and heart health!

Elena: Looking forward to next month. I always enjoy our interviews, as they are informative and fun!

Angel: I agree wholeheartedly! Malista!

Essential Oil for January, 2007 - Thieves Oil Blend

Malista: Hello, again, Angel. We're here to discuss the new feature, "Young Living Essential Oil of the Month." What single oil or blend have you chosen to showcase for the month of January?

Angel: This was an easy choice for the cold and flu season. It is the Thieves oil blend, which contains the essential oils of cinnamon, clove, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary.

Malista: That is a strange name for a blend. How did it come about?

Angel: There is an interesting story of four thieves in the middle ages who robbed the graves of plague victims but did not get sick as they had rubbed themselves with the aromatics found in this blend!

Malista: Wow, that is interesting. It must be very powerful!

Angel: You're absolutely right. I like to think of myself as arming myself with the power of Thieves. It is a strong antiseptic that has been university-tested.

Malista: How do you use it?

Angel: As with all the oils and oil blends, it can be diffused, applied topically, or simply inhaled. However, there is a whole line of Thieves products, including lozenges, toothpaste, mouthwash, spray, wipes, bar soap and household cleaner!

Malista: Tell me more about the products.

Angel: Sure! The lozenges are strong, yet soothing and taste delicious. They are great for singers and public speakers! One of my friends even told me she liked the "candy" I gave her. They do not contain any sugar, but rather use malitol and stevia leaf (an herb) for sweetening. They also contain peppermint as do the oral hygiene products.

I use the toothpaste and mouthwash every day and they are both very effective in cleaning and whitening my teeth and freshening my breath.

The spray and wipes are great, especially for use in public places like on door handles or to clean your hands before dining.

The bar soap is fragrant, moisturizing and long -lasting.

The household cleaner is amazing and can be diluted according to the task at hand. It cleans mirrors, bathtubs, sinks (both porcelain and stainless) carpeting, etc. I use a little in my dishwasher and laundry as well. I even removed oil paint off my hands without having to use turpentine or harsh cleaners! (Great for artists!)

The Thieves blend is supportive to the immune system and even though I have been around people who are sick, I have not gotten sick for a very long time! I like to think of it as "God's antibiotic!" Plus it smells so wonderful!

Malista: Any last comments?

Angel: I would like to make a special offer for people who sign up after having read this on Malista.
If they sign up as a customer, I will give them a 1 oz. bottle of Thieves spray.
If they sign up as a preferred customer on auto-ship, I will give them a bottle of Thieves spray or lozenges.
If they sign up as a distributor, I will give them a bottle of Thieves spray and lozenges!
They can visit my website @ www.youngliving.org/287231 and click on "sign up here."

Malista: That is a generous offer!

Angel: I want people to benefit from these amazing oils and products, as they absolutely must be experienced to be appreciated! Plus, as wonderful as the internet is, we cannot experience aromatherapy over it! Well, not yet, anyway!

Essential Oils, an Interview with Angel Brock - December, 2006

Q: Hello, Angel. What in the world is an "essential oil" and how are they used?

A: Essential Oils are the distilled essences of plants, herbs and flowers.
They can be inhaled, applied topically (as a perfume, to soothe muscles or relieve a cut or insect bite) and are even used in cooking!

The best way to enjoy an oil is to put a drop on your palm, rub it with your other hand, cup your hands and inhale! I like to do this with peppermint oil and it immediately perks me up! I also put it on my temples and neck if I get a headache. Just don't rub your eyes! I also make peppermint or chamomile tea using only one drop of oil as it is so potent.

Q: The terms "essential oils" and "aromatherapy" seem to be buzzwords nowadays and a lot of commercial products contain them. How are your oils different?

A: Accept no substitutes! Young Living Essential Oils are organically grown, pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and contain no synthetics whatsoever. Just because something may smell nice and say it contains lavender for calming does not mean it is pure and may even be harmful! When oils are adulterated in any way, they lose their beneficial properties.

Q: This is so interesting! You mentioned the oils may be used in cooking. How do you use them?

A: Besides teas, which I mentioned earlier, I put a drop of cinnamon bark oil in my coffee grounds before brewing. One time, I needed lemon for sangria and did not have fresh lemons, so used a drop of lemon oil. It was wonderful.
In addition to lemon and cinnamon, there are also single oils of oregano and dill, that we can add to our Greek foods after we cook them, or use with dips like yogurt for tsatzeki. We can let our imaginations and creativities soar!
One rule is that the oils are made stronger with water, so use less with a watery recipe or beverage. When using olive oil, though, you may have to use more. Just add one drop at a time.

Q: What other kinds of products does Young Living carry?

A: There are so many wonderful products I use every day, like the deodorant, Thieves toothpaste, lozenges, bar soap and household cleaner, Kidscents shampoo and lotion, A.R.T. (Age-Refining Technology) skin care line, supplements like Super C and Super Cal as well as Wolfberry Crisp Bars which are so yummy and contain 16 grams of protein! The NingXia Red infusion is a superfood in itself and many of the YL products contain this fabulous , powerful, anti-oxidant wolfberry from the Ningxia region of China.

Another unique thing about the products is that they all contain essential oils!

I consider the oils and products to be nothing short of miraculous. I have suffered from severe reactions to insect bites since childhood, allergies, sinus problems and headaches for several years and had even lost my sense of smell for two years! I also received painful allergy shots for over five years.
Now when I get an insect bite, I immediately put a drop of lavender oil on it and the welt disappears before my eyes.
I use peppermint or eucalyptus if I get stuffy and it helps to clear me up. The Thieves lozenges also greatly help and I have not had tonsillitis now for several years (I used to get sick every fall.)

Q: It sounds as if there is so much more to learn. How can someone learn more?

A: They can visit my website at www.youngliving.org/287231 and click on essential oils. There are over 90 single oils and also several beautiful blends. There is information about each oil on the site.
I am also willing to have essential oil demonstrations/parties at homes and churches. Everyone always enjoys these gatherings and the oils really must be experienced to be appreciated

Q: Thank you, Angel. I think I have a better understanding of what an essential oil is. Now I am curious to find out how real lavender smells.

A: You're welcome, and exactly! The more oils I try, the more I want to experience. It is truly a healthy addiction! Yiassou and Malista!
