Daughters
of Penelope Announce Elections of Georgia Psichogios,
Grand President
Fort Lauderdale, FL.
--The delegates of the Daughters of Penelope elected Georgia A. Psichogios,
Westmont, IL, Grand President for the 2006-2007 administration at their
National Convention in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Diplomat Hotel, on July 29,
2006. President Psichogios, a member of the Daughters of Penelope for
over 22 years, was installed along with the Daughters of Penelope Grand
Lodge Officers and the entire AHEPA family at installation services on
Sunday morning surrounded by well-wishers.
Ms. Psichogios stated
"I never dreamed that I would get this involved, I usually see myself
as follower, and it looks like I followed myself right into a leadership
position, and I couldn't be more honored."
She went on to say:
"I belong to an all AHEPA Family, and together with my parents have
lived the Daughters Experience."
"I am looking forward to serving our organization this year. I am
especially impressed with how the entire Grand Lodge and membership pulled
together to create this wonderful convention for the common good, despite
challenges faced at headquarters. I look forward to continuing next year
united and reaching together our common philanthropic mission."
Last year as Grand
Vice President and Growth and Expansion Chair, she implemented a successful
membership program -- "Reach Out and Ask a Friend" - that resulted
in the chapters initiating and/or reinstating over 300 members. This brought
the total national membership numbers of the Daughters of Penelope to
over 10,000 +.
Grand President Psichogios
has held numerous elected offices during her membership as a Daughter
of Penelope at the chapter, district and national levels. She is a member
of Dione Chapter 316, which is a part of District 13.
The Grand President
is a college graduate and received her B.A. in Education from Northeastern
Illinois University and holds a teaching certificate in elementary education
and taught for several years before entering the business world. Professionally,
she is Vice President of The Inland Human Resource Services, Inc., which
handles the payroll and benefits of approximately 1,300 employees of The
Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, a real estate management and investment
company. The Grand President and her family are life-long members of The
Assumption Greek Orthodox Church of Chicago. She was a member of the Assumption
Women's Club and had served as the President of the Women's Club for two
years and she currently is a member of the Parish Council.

Georgia is looking
forward to an exciting new year and hopes to visit with as many chapters
as possible during the upcoming term.
