Saturday, July 14, 2007: Simultaneous Performers in 10 US Cities A community group known as PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment) will again process through the streets of Detroit, MI, beginning at Cobo Hall, we will then process through to Hart Plaza, past the Spirit of Detroit, and then on to Greektown. Simultaneous performances in 10 US cities including: Chicago, Detroit, Dallas/Fort Worth, Traverse City, Orlando, Richmond Washington DC, New Orleans aand Baton Rouge. PURE was founded in New York Three years ago by a group of performers committed to promoting peace by pubicity paresenting their dance and music outside of traditional performance venues. The members of PURE are a mix of professional and amateur performers of all ages, races, sizes, and levels, who have come together with the common goal of inspiring peace through art. On Saturday, July 14, 2007 from 6:00pm - 8pm, the group will travel through Detroit, stopping along the way to enjoy, pay tribute to the Great Lakes, and our history. We hope to encourage onlookers to contribute to youth organizations, to expand the horizons and brighten the future for the next generation. Starting in front of Cobo Hall, we will walk to the People Mover; exit and walk through Hart Plaza to the river front, pass the Spirit of Detroit statue, then proceed back on the People Mover, to Greektown. The Public Urban Ritual Experiment, PURE, will again join to spread their spirit of peace and healing through out the city. The group will begin at the 6:00 on the roof top parking of Cobo Hall. They will proceed to the people mover station and advance to the Financial District, Hart Plaza and Campus Martius, Their final stop, will be at the Bricktown Station, where they will dance to Greektown at approximately 8:15 in front of Greektown's newest jewel, Mosaics. An afterglow will be held at the Parthenon Restaurant, 547 Monroe, Greektown, Detroit at 8:30pm. PURE's facilitator for Detroit, Roxann Scotella, describes PURE, "PURE is a collective of dancers and drummers who take music and dance out into the streets for the purposes of healing and peace." The dance movements are from ancient sacred world traditions including Middle Eastern, Chinese, Romani Gypsy, Israeli folk, Flamenco, Indian dance and drumming, all blend to create the PURE experience.
