For "An Affair to Remember" Over the last year Malista has had the pleasure to attend several occasions hosted at Detroit's premiere entertainment venue, the International Banquet and Conference Center (IBCC) located in the heart of Greektown and we are delighted to be able to now introduce them as our newest advertiser and profile. Whether a wedding, engagement party or fundraising celebration, guests are certain to be treated to a spectacular event. IBCC has been serving Detroit's business and conference needs since finishing renovations on this one time fur trading warehouse now known as 400 Monroe. A part of Greektown's vibrant and bustling Casino Complex, The IBCC is annexed to the Atheneum Hotel and Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen. With 10 different private spaces available to meet your every event and conference need, the location offers a multitude of options. Besides existing, room selections on the first floor, Aphrodite and Hermes, the newest renovation, the French Quarter Room, now easily accommodates parties of 60-70; perfect for that special rehearsal dinner or shower. In addition, the facility boasts 5 conference rooms on the second floor, Sophocles, Euripides, Aristoteles, Socrates and Plato, with it's crowning two-story Grand Ballroom, Fishbone's Atrium, and the Olympus I and II, located on the 8th floor. Having had the opportunity to attend a wedding recently at the IBCC, Malista contacted the groom, Nicholas G. Kallas, CPA, with The Kallas Company, Restaurant and Accounting specialists, to get his first hand comments regarding his wedding reception experience. His instant reply, "It was perfect!" He continued, "It looked like it cost a million dollars with a majestic view over looking Detroit's skyline and it's two storied ballroom, my guests were totally blown away." His Aunt from Akron, Ohio, exclaimed, "It's like a fairyland." Besides an endless buffet of appetizers served on the ballroom balcony and food prepared with meticulous care, Kallas was particularly impressed with the staff, "Waiters approached me to remind me that they were available and willing to meet any request. It was amazing." From the perspective of a guest, being greeted to drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the balcony reception area, and having an opportunity to view the entry of the wedding party from this heightened vantage without a crowded obstructed view, was truly impressive. Finally, Kallas confided, "I had selected tall candelabras for each table, the management adjusted the lighting to best enhance the setting and created an especially romantic feeling. It was wonderful." Recently the Foundation for Modern Greek Studies hosted their annual fundraiser featuring Linos Kokokotos and Paschalis Tonios and Detroit's own Levendes.
