Metropolis
of Detroit Summer Camp to Host Fundraiser - It's All "For The Love Of Camp" If you've ever spent a week or even an hour at the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp in Rose City, Michigan, then you probably know what a special place it is for children. Nestled in the beauty of the Huron National Forest, the camp, for decades, has been a haven of summer activity and spiritual enlightenment for thousands of Orthodox kids throughout the U.S. Maybe you were one of them. Maybe you made your first best friend there. Maybe it's where you learned to paddle a canoe, ride a horse or go on a nature walk. It could be where you met your wife or husband. Or maybe it's where you made a real connection with God. And maybe now it's your kids' turn to experience these things. That's the camp experience. And it's experiences like these that help to define who we are as Orthodox Christians. Now, the camp needs our help. The Camp Board, Metropolitan Nicholas and the Auction Committee are proud to celebrate "For The Love Of Camp," a silent and live auction, that will be held on Saturday October 6th, 2007 at the St. Nicholas Church Hall in Troy, MI. Proceeds from this elegant evening will benefit several much needed buildings and grounds improvements for the camp and begin the crucial first steps toward the construction of a camp Chapel. Here's how you can help. First, mark your calendar for October 6th. Then, with checkbook, credit card or cash in hand, enjoy the elegance of a dinner party combined with the excitement of a Sotheby's Auction. Be sure to get there at 5:30pm, have a cocktail, enjoy the strolling dinner and place your bids for the silent auction items. Then get ready for some real fun, with the live auction beginning promptly at 8:30pm. Both silent and live auctions will feature a wide variety of exciting and must-have items. The second way to help is by making a generous gift donation to be auctioned. Your company or family name will prominently appear in the auction catalog provided to every guest at the event. Suggested items are theater and sporting event tickets, sports memorabilia, travel and golf packages, automobiles, use of vacation homes, dinner packages, jewelry, artwork, spa days, health and beauty items or children's items. Of course monetary donations are also very much appreciated. Remember, it's all
